Q: Is DriveSafe's course state approved?
A: Yes, DriveSafe is state approved in Texas for ticket dismissal and insurance discount.
Q: Is DriveSafe's defensive driving video course state approved?
A: Yes. You do NOT have to get special permission from the judge to take our video course. Once you have court approval to take a defensive driving course, you can take any state approved course in Texas including DriveSafe's At Home Video course.
Q: How long does it take to get my certificate? Can I get it today?
A: For an additional fee, you can contact DriveSafe's home office (940-659-3066) and get your certificate via overnight. You must call Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 2:00pm for this special service. Normal delivery of your certificate should be less than 15 days.
Q: What should I take to class?
A: Your driver license or some form of picture ID, the name of your court and something to write with.
Q: I just received my certificate in the mail, now what do I do?
A: Sign the court copy of your certificate and return it to the court with any other papers the court requested. This might include court paper, copy of insurance and copy of your driving record. Be sure to get a receipt and put it in a safe place.
Q: It has been 15 days since I took the class and I have not received my certificate, what should I do?
A: Call 512-997-6524 as soon as possible! If you wait until 30 days, there will be a $10.00 charge from the state to get a duplicate certificate.
Q: I lost my certificate, how do I get a duplicate.
A: You must call the Texas Education Agency at 512-997-6500 and request a duplicate. The current charge for this service is $10.00, however, they can fax you a letter of confirmation for free.
Q: How often can I take defensive driving?
A: The law allows you to take defensive driving once a year to dismiss a traffic ticket. It has been less than a year....check with your judge. He or she has the power to let you take it more often.
Q: If I take a defensive driving class for the insurance discount, do I lose my chance to take it for ticket dismissal?
A: If you take defensive driving for the 10% insurance discount it does NOT count as having a ticket dismissal. So start saving money on insurance TODAY by taking a class. The insurance discount is good for THREE years!!!!!!
